John Elkington is a world authority on corporate responsibility and sustainable development. In 2004, BusinessWeek described him as “a dean of the corporate responsibility movement for three decades.” SustainAbility is based in London, Zurich, Washington, DC and San Francisco, with clients including Ford, Microsoft, Nike, Shell, Swiss Re and Unilever.
John has authored or co-authored 16 books, including 1988’s million-selling Green Consumer Guide and Cannibals with Forks: The Triple Bottom Line of 21st Century Business (1997), and has written or co-written some 40 published reports. Current project: a book on social entrepreneurs with Pamela Hartigan of the Schwab Foundation (www.schwabfound.org).
Affiliations
John chairs The Environment Foundation, the Social and Environmental Committee of the Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants (ACCA), and the Advisory Council of the Export Credit Guarantees Department (ECGD).
He also sits on advisory boards for the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre, Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes, a new Clean Tech Fund being developed by Zouk Ventures, and the Royal Society of Arts.
