Growing energy demand is a key factor in the global climate change challenge, as much of this demand is expected to be satisfied through increased production and use of fossil fuel. As demand for energy grows throughout the world, it will be necessary to improve energy efficiency and to develop a diverse portfolio of environmentally responsible resources that can support and sustain economic growth. The challenge lies in meeting this growing demand in a way that improves quality of life today without sacrificing it for future generations. This requires us to use all the resources we have at our disposal, and continue to develop long-term solutions that foster social progress while protecting the environment.
